Saint Benedict Medals
1880 Jubilee Medal of SAINT Benedict
The Jubilee Medal was originally commissioned by the monks of the Abbey of Monte Cassino, Italy to mark the 1400th anniversary of the birth of St. Benedict. The image of St. Benedict holding a cross in one hand and his Rule in the other is in on the face of the medal. On the back of the medal is the cross. These images, like those of all religious articles of devotion, are meant to remind us of St. Benedict and foster our devotion to him as a person whose life and Rule are meant to be a guide for us as we journey through life. The cross reminds us that through his death on the wood of the cross Christ has conquered all sin and evil and the Evil One has no power over us. We are saved by the cross. Any use of a religious article as if it were a charm or had some magic power to bring good luck is not in the Christian spirit of the use of such objects of devotion.
All our medals come from officially approved sources in Italy. Although any priest or deacon may bless the medal, our medals are blessed by a Benedictine before being shipped. Your donation for the medal helps to cover the cost and handling.
