Fr. Jacques Missihoun, OSB, is one of the first monks of the Monastery of the Incarnation in Agbang, Togo, which was founded in 1985. Abbot Fidelis Ruppert, OSB of the Abbey of St. Felicity, Muensterschwarzach accompanied the young community on behalf of the Congregation and welcomed monks from Agbang to Muensterschwarzach, Germany, to experience the roots of the Missionary Benedictines and to have an opportunity of learning a trade, languages and pursue higher education. Fr. Jacques spent several years in Germany and learned the trade of a goldsmith.

In 2008, Fr. Jacques was assigned by the Abbot President and the Congregation Council to be part of the first international group of monks bringing Benedictine monastic life to the Archdiocese of Havana, Cuba, at the invitation of the local bishop. He also served the community as its monastic superior until 2018. It was not an easy task, especially with obtaining land for a farm and the future monastery.

Fr. Jacques came to the United States for a time of “sabbatical” and spent several months with the community of Christ the King Priory in Schuyler. In July 2019, he returned to Togo awaiting the approval of the religious workers visa application for a return to the United States and his new assignment to Christ the King Priory where he arrived in December 2019.

Schuyler and the Archdiocese of Omaha have a large Hispanic community. His fluency in the Spanish language is an added benefit to the various ministries of the Missionary Benedictines of Christ the King Priory.
