Contemplating the Holy Eucharist (Father Mauritius Wilde, OSB, PhD)

For many, the Holy Eucharist has become more than just an obligatory routine. They don’t want to miss it anymore. How can we join the Mass with a “listening heart” (cf. St. Benedict)? How can we approach the Eucharist in a contemplative manner as the monks try to do it: pondering, meditating, in silent reverence? Not so much expecting “to get something out of it,” but rather wishing “to get into the mystery” itself? The Lord wants to share his life with us and wants us to be united with him intimately.
