Exploring the Seven Dwelling Places of St. Teresa of Avila: The Interior Castle (Fr. William J. Jarema, M.S., M.Div., M.A.S.)

In her work, The Interior Castle, St. Teresa pictured the soul as a beautiful mansion in which God resides in the centermost place. In the innermost of seven dwelling places, the person becomes united with God in continuous, conscious love. St. Teresa says: “Prayer is not thinking much but loving much. Everything becomes simple when we realize that here we are dealing with what is, first of all, a matter of the heart. It is not then a case of sustaining the mind, but simply uniting our hearts to God.” This retreat is a journey into the Interior Castle.
