“The most important means toward perfection is being still and putting all one’s trust in God.” (St. Francis de Sales) Contemplative prayer is the opening of mind and heart—our whole being—to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words, and emotions. This retreat, involving breath practice, is for beginners on the contemplative journey.

Father Thomas Leitner, OSB, holds a Master’s of Religious Studies from St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO, and serves as administrator of St. Benedict Center. He has practiced contemplative prayer for 40 years.
